And we go to the new battlefield All our sins are now forgiven We seek to be the protecting shield. Heroes rise from the ashes of a broken world Shadows deepen in the lingering night Watch as the banners come unfurled We are the stories our children tell by firelight."
It has been nearly four years, since the fall of Barad-dur. Barely one since Frodo sailed with the Ringbearers. It's a time of celebration, and reconciliation. The bonds between the lands of the Horse and the White City have been strengthened, between the marriage of Faramir and Eowyn, and the bonds grow stronger still, with Lothriel's engagement to Eomer King. Rohan and Gondor ride East, to cleanse the land of Sauron's influence. The King is bothered; resistance is strong, even with the will of the people with him, some still fight back, fanatical in their devotion to Sauron, and Morgoth. In the South, the people are held by fear. Fear of death, fear of torture, and their leaders rally around the Fiery Eye, though their master is gone. War will come to Gondor, if Gondor does not send her armies south. But Gondor will not march alone. Rohan will ride, and lands from the East have sent aide. Great, glorious camps dot the Pelannor; The colours of all the free Men of the West, and allies from the East, preparing to join their comrades in the lands past Mordor. Divisions of dwarves and elves visit with greater regularity, and Gimli Elf-friend works in secret upon a great gift for Minas Tirith. In Mirkwood, Thranduil still rules, and in Lorien, Celeborn rules alone, beginning the process that will give the forest back to it's people. On red sails, Umbar resists again. In Angmar, a land as scarred and barren as Mordor itself, cults worship the Iron Crown, and a man has placed himself as the Angmariam heir. A cargul, a lesser wraith, once a man of the hillpeople, and now a false king. In Khand, it is spring, and flowers flow across the fields like a purple and reddish sea. Not all are happy, with a peace with the people of the West, but most are happy to throw off the shackles of slavery and darkness. Farther East, with Gondor's army gone, cultists begin to come out of hiding, though they face fierce opposition, and civil war threatens. Freedom is earned, peace is preceded by war. Untold Tales is a Tolkien-based game set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth. Here at Untold Tales, we aim to further the tales after the Lord of the Rings through the electronic media forms of journals and AOL instant messenger chats. The quest for excellent role playing and a friendly community in the Tolkien fandom is one that never ends. Untold Tales seeks to gather together the excellent role players of the internet realm and introduce them to a friendly roleplaying environment. Here, they can not only explore the Fourth Age with characters that Tolkien created, but also with characters that fit into his world. Characterization is important to us, and original characters have a place at Untold Tales too; given credibility and a creative approach, these become as much a part of Middle-earth as The Fellowship. There are many stories untold by Tolkien, and at Untold Tales we seek to explore perhaps some of the histories behind the songs that might have risen in heraldry of glory.
